FAQs are documents that list and answer the most common questions on a particular subject. Our FAQ is constantly being updated with new questions and answers. If you come across a question that we dont have in our FAQ please contact customer service, we might just add it to the list!


What is "The Electrician"?
The Electrician is a home electrical service created by The Electrician Service Co. Inc. serving homeowners, in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

What services do you provide?
We provide the following:…

  • Residential electrical work, central heating, cooling and air filtration
  • Convenient, secure online self-scheduling for all your electrical needs
  • Extended hours of operation: 7am -7pm
  • Discounted member rates on labor and services
  • A Home Electrical Safety Survey of all electrical systems for members

What are your office hours?
The office is open from 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 1:00pm Saturdays.

Can I cancel my appointment?
Your appointment may be cancelled online or by phone 48 hours in advance.

When can my membership start?
Your membership can start at any time during year. It begins on the day you join and is valid for 12 months. It expires at midnight of your membership anniversary.

Are materials included in this membership?
No, materials are not included. However, members receive a discount on all materials.

Can I provide the materials?
Yes, you can provide your own materials such as fixtures, outlets, and switches. However, The Electrician Service Co., Inc. will not warranty these items and may refuse them if they do not meet code requirements.

Are parts and labor warranted? How long?
All labor is warranted for one year from the date of installation. Parts supplied by The Electrician, excluding bulbs, are warranted for one year unless otherwise noted.

What happens if you are late?
We value your time, if we arrive late you will recieve a crisp new dollar for every minute past the scheduled service time. The only exception would be unusual or severe weather conditions.

What if I am not satisfied with my service?
If you are unsatisfied for any reason, you are encouraged to call the office to discuss your concerns. We want to know how we can serve you better!

Do you accept competitor’s coupons or estimates?
We will gladly review a complete, specific breakdown of proposed services or discount from a competitor. We will match our competitor’s price if the proposed work and materials are equal to our proposal.

Do I have price protection?
Due to fluctuating industry costs, a competitor’s estimate and/or coupons must be brought to us no more than 5 days before or after our services are rendered.

Can I submit my own plans?
Yes, we would be happy to review your plans. We would, however, request a non-returnable copy.

Is there a charge for an on-site estimate?
No, estimates are absolutely free of charge.

Can I make an appointment for an estimate online?
Yes, members can make appointments by visiting TheElectrician.com and entering the secure members homepage via the "member area" link on the repairs and estimates pages.

Do I need to have online access in order to use the services of The Electrician?
No. While online access provides greater convenience, members may call the office during normal hours of operation to make necessary appointments.

Are you able to assist us in obtaining a certificate of inspection for work done by others?
The area in question would be thoroughly inspected by The Electrician Service, Co. Inc. If there are no violations, we can secure a certificate of inspection at an additional cost. If violations exist, they would need to be corrected.

Do you repair appliances?
No, unfortunately we do not at this time.

Do you provide emergency service?
Yes, we do provide 24 hour emergency service. An emergency is any call that necessitates immediate service in order to provide for your safety.

How long have you been in the residential electrical industry?
Though TheElectrician.com is a relatively new concept in the residential electrical industry our "family tree" has roots that reach back to the early sixties - close to forty years!

Do you accept credit cards?
Absolutely, for your convienience we accept MasterCard, American Express, Visa and Discover credit cards. For your peace of mind, we use verisign.com, a leader in the industry for secure credit card transactions.

How do I become a member?
Its easy, all you need to do is fill in the secure membership form, and we will contact you to schedule an appointment.

Whats the best way to view myelectrician.com?
Our site is optimized for Internet Explorer 5.0 and above, if you don't have it you can download it here.

Will I be entitled to free upgrades of TheElectrician.com?
Yes, based on feedback from our members, and emerging technologies, we will regularly upgrade the features and functions of TheElectrician.com at no charge to members.

Our Web site is constantly going through a metamorphosis. It is being reviewed, revised, and restructured to better meet your needs. The current, or 1.0, is an HTML prototype for a database-driven Web site we will be creating in the summer of 2006. As we build this prototype, you may notice some differences in the design, features and functions of pages throughout the site. Whenever new functions and features are added all members will recieve an email notification. The email will contain a description of the new feature as well as instuctions on how to best use it.
